At the rate Switch has been selling it wouldn't surprise me if it has already passed the 3 million mark by now. I am not saying the launch of a console is everything but everything about Switch so far has pointed to it doing far better than Wii U ever did.

The point I am trying to make here is that there is a far greater demand for Switch. The only reason why it hasn't sold more at this point is likely cause Nintendo can't get them on shelves nearly fast enough to keep up with the demand. I actually hear Gamestop say that systems have been selling out within hours of coming in. You didn't see this kind of demand with Wii U.

Within a month the Switch came very close to 3 million with what was considered a meager selection of games and it launched in March which is hardly considered the optimal time to release a new system.Switches success can be down to several things. The concept compared to Wii U has a lot more appeal and from the stories I have heard from some people, it's practically able to sell itself on the portability factor alone. Nintendo has been pushing this thing hard. I mean seriously they are doing a promo with Target for MK8 Deluxe. It's 2nd major Nintendo game has just released along with a steady stream of quality indie content. Then consider that we have ARMS coming in June followed by Splatoon the following month on top of Xenoblade 2, FE Warriors and Mario Oddysee this fall which doesn't even consider potential third party releases and what they could announce at E3. It's not like Wii U which went for months with nothing noteworthy.

Also Switch actually launched with Zelda which basically gave it a killer app day 1. Compare that to what Wii U launched with day 1.On the development side of things the Switch is overall a much better designed system.

I think Nintendo was smart to partner with Nvidia and let them provide the development tools and chips. It's crazy that I have actually head several devs state that Switch may be even more developer friendly than PS4. Coupled with actual modern engine support and not being held back by an ancient dated architecture. I think it's clear Nintendo has took notes from Wii U's failure. I don't see any problems with bringing Soulstorm to Switch. Sumo Digital actually got Snakepass ported within a week which is just insane.Last I heard Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was actually number 1 in the UK charts which is almost unheard of for a Nintendo game these days and Breath of the Wild actually moved up a few spots likely thanks to fresh stock coming in.This is why I feel Lornes claim that Switch will die off soon is kinda bullshit. With the way things I are going I don't expect Switch to really drop off anytime soon.

Maybe slow down but likely not the severe drop off that occurred with Wii U. That Switch figure I quoted was actually just 5 days ago, so I doubt it's passed 3 million by now, though it probably will within the next month.Personally, the biggest thing holding me back is the awful hardware design. Why would they put protection in the dock for the back of the tablet, but not the front? Or how about how it's bending itself? The thing damages itself when used properly. I can't think of a single other electronic device that does that. Then you have the disconnection issues with WiFi and Bluetooth and it seems like it was a rush to get it to market.

That's not even mentioning the half-baked multiplayer. Can you imagine if the PS4 or Xbox One launched without a legitimate online service? Or how about how you can't even communicate on Nintendo's console when it's something other consoles have been doing for over a decade? The Switch is enticing in it's usability and the few games I'm interested in, but I'll probably wait for the second iteration or a decent price drop. The majority of issues you mentioned were most likely a result of defective units rather than the actual hardware itself based on what I have read. The Joy Con disconnect issue they have pretty much solved already and you can even send your Joy Cons in they will fix it for you.

The online is technically free till this fall which is when the full service goes live.I don't think the system itself is badly designed most of the problems were likely just your typical early system teething troubles.
